Do you want to achieve more, live healthier and happier this year? If your answer is yes, then I have something you should be interested in.
You know what they say, “if you always do, what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.”
That means, to experience differently, you have to do differently. I will give you some tips to help you achieve more, and be happy doing it.
Without further ado, let’s dig in…
1. Change your mindset
This is a new year, make it a different one for you.
Start with a new mindset. A better mindset than the one you had in the previous years.
If you don’t have a healthy mindset, it’s time to change it.
If your mindset has been hindering your progress, change it.
A mindset that allows for possibilities is what you need. Do away with self-limiting thought-life.
Nothing limits you more than your mindset and nothing sets you free more than your imagination.
You know you need to reset your mindset when you find that it always holds you back. It tells you the wrong things.
Wrong mindset to reset
- You are not beautiful, no one will marry you.
- It can’t be done. Who do you think you are?
- All you have now is all you will ever get.
- You will never make the right decisions.
- You will never lose weight, no matter how hard you try.
Change this kind of mindset, or else you will never amount to anything worthwhile.
2. Look out for fresh opportunities
If you are still stressing over the opportunities you missed in the previous year, you are wrong.
Bring yourself back to reality: it’s 2021 baby. Time to move forward with your life.
It’s a new year and new year comes with new opportunities. So what do you need to do about them?
Look out for them. Search them out whenever they are hiding. Create them.
Reach out farther than you have been. If you want to see farther, go further.

What to do with opportunities
- Look out for fresh opportunities
- Assess them thoroughly
- Embrace the good ones
- Review the outcome
- Learn from the experience
3. Spread out beyond your comfort zone
If you are comfortable where you are, it is because you are not growing much. And your comfort zone is not the best zone you can be in.
Add more things to your bucket. You can do much more than you think. Stop underestimating yourself.
I’m not saying you should overload yourself. But I definitely mean you should add more to what you have been doing.
Apply yourself more than you have ever done. You have not even reached your breaking point yet.
Reach out farther than you have been. If you want to see farther, go further.
Some ways to step out of your comfort zone
- Take up new challenges.
- Do what you have never done before
- Learn a new skill.
- Build new network of people.
- Travel to new places, etc.
4. Expand your network
Be open to new frienships, partnerships and alliances. Don’t be a lone ranger.
Build appropriate networks with people and leverage on their help.
Leveraging on the people in your network can help you achieve your goals faster.
Don’t be deceived thinking you don’t need to connect with people of like minds.
No man is an Island. You will need people to achieve your goals and people will need you to achieve theirs.
I’m not saying you should ‘use’ people and suck them dry. No, they will resent you if you do that.
Connect with them. Collaborate.
Work with them in a way that it is a win-win situation. At the end, you will all be happy.
How to expand your network
- Make yourself approachable.
- Reach out to the people you. want to newtwork with.
- Have mentors.
- Do volunteer works.
- Attend relevant networking events, etc.

5. Avoid toxic relationships
As much as networking with people is good, make sure the people you allow in your network are not toxic people.
Toxic people have nothing good to offer to you. So avoid them.
In the years gone by, you’ve been with people that never supported your goals; they pulled you in one direction – downwards.
Disconnect from such people.
Heck, this is a new year. Build healthy relationships, and not remain in the toxic ones.
If you cannot change the people around you, change the people you are around with.
How to avoid toxic relationship
- Have a good sense of value.
- Relate with people of like minds.
- Don’t ignore red flags.
- Speak up, speak the truth.
- Develop a healthy self-esteem.
6. Increase your sense of humour
You are human, so you will make mistakes. When you do, don’t hit your head against the wall.
There is humour in failure as well as in success. Find it, see it
Laugh a lot.
It’s okay to be on the funny side of life. Don’t be that person that nothing on earth ever amuses him or her.
You always look serious, take yourself and other people seriously. What has that done for you?
It has made you so unhappy. It has even made some people to resent you. It’s time you loosened up!
Am I suggesting you become lousy? No.
Am I saying you should allow yourself to smile or laugh when you have to? Yes, that’s my point.
Please add humour to your daily existence. You will feel better and so will the people around you.
How to develop a good sense of humor
- Stop taking things so personally.
- Listen to, and also tell jokes.
- Learn from people who have a good sense of humour.
- Be a little more open-minded.
- Be positive about people.
Conclusion
The new year is here already. And I suppose you want an experience better than the one you had in the outgone year.
If that’s true, then you need to do things differently from the ways you have been used to.
You have to put on a winning mindset; one that empowers you to achieve more and live happier.
Get rid of everything negative and self-debilitating mindset.
To cap the points I made in this post. If you want to achieve more this year, I urge you to:
- Reset your mindset from negative to positive;
- Look out for fresh opportunities;
- Reach beyond your comfort zone;
- Expand your network;
