Consistency In Blogging: If You Abandon Your Blog, Your Blog Will Abandon You

When you abandon your blog

How consistent are you in your blogging journey? I have been blogging long enough to know that if you abandon your blog, your blog will also abandon you.

Realise that your inconsistency is a major setback to your success in blogging. I’m telling you that now in case you don’t know.

Let me put it in another way: You cannot create a memorable blog if you are inconsistent with it. You can be sure about that!

Commitment is required for consistency

If your blog must blossom, you must be committed to it; you must  give it the needed attention.

You must post regularly, relevantly and qualitatively.

If you are consistent in blogging, it will show in the amount of attention you give to your blog.

Needless to say, lack of attention will either kill your blog or send it to the land of oblivion. It cannot be a blessing in disguise.

The bitter truth is that you don’t start a blog, abandon it and expect it to turn out the new best thing in town. You will need the right dose of commitment to make it work.

Commitment is a sure booster to consistency in blogging. You can’t have it another way.

If you have been blogging long enough, you would discover that creating useful content is not a piece of cake, neither is it a walk in the park. It requires hard-work, the best you have to offer – otherwise, you are not fully ready yet.

I hope that aligns with what you have been told before? If not, you should know you have not been told the whole truth.

Consistency in blogging

Starting a blog vs. having a baby

Starting a blog is like giving birth to a baby. Once a baby is born, you give it your full attention and commitment.

You don’t abandon the baby to itself hoping all will be well. No, it won’t.

You don’t say to it, “Baby, welcome to the world. Please take care of yourself, you will be fine,” and run off, to do your thing. That will be irresponsible of you to do…

You don’t abandon the child you love, so why do you abandon your blog? Or don’t you have a firm belief in your blogging mission?

If your blog means anything worthwhile to you, you should demonstrate the principle of consistency in the way you run it. Pay attention to it, just as you would to a baby.

A baby is supposed to be carefully nurtured until it grows to maturity – healthy and strong.

Your blog should be consistently nurtured right from infancy, to the level you wish to take it.

Leaving your blog unattended to over an extended period of time is a-good-enough reason for it to gradually slide into comatose. And I’m sure that’s not what you want!

So take it from me again: be consistent with your and don’t abandon it. If you abandon your blog, your blog will abandon you because your readers will go elsewhere.
